Become a GP specialist mentor
Do you have a specialist skill you would like to pass onto the next generation of GPs?
We are currently seeking specialist general practitioner (GP) mentors for accredited Advanced Skills Training (AST) posts! Whether you're an anaesthetist, gynaecologist or surgeon, there are 11 AST disciplines we need mentors for around WA.
A GP mentor is someone who is working, or has worked in a similar situation to where the registrar intends to use their advanced skill. GP mentors should be a rural doctor who can put specialist information into rural context. This role may be filled by a specialist supervisor who fits these criteria.
As a mentor your role is to provide pastoral care for registrars in their AST posts and provide opportunities to debrief or act as a sounding board about cultural or personal issues. The mentor requirements for each AST discipline varies. If you'd like more information about what being an AST mentor for your particular skill involves, check out the AST disciplines page on the ACRRM website.
