Rural & Remote Emergency Medicine Workshop

The Rural and Remote Emergency Medicine Workshop is an interactive 2 day program that focuses on developing the emergency management skills and knowledge of rural and remote clinicians. Facilitated by experienced emergency and critical care clinicians the workshop addresses both adult and paediatric emergency presentations, including:

  • Identification and management of the critically ill adult and paediatric patient in the rural and remote setting
  • Approach and management of the agitated patient in a rural ED
  • Management of severe traumatic brain injury in the remote setting
  • Advanced airway management
  • Emergency procedural skills such as airway & ventilation, plastering, suturing, vascular access and chest drain insertion

Immersive simulation scenarios will provide participants the opportunity to apply, practice and consolidate acquired skills and knowledge throughout the course. This course is designed to complement the Trauma Skills Refresher course.

Date: Saturday 18 May to Sunday 19 May
Time: Day 1 7:45am to 6:00pm (followed by networking dinner) and day 2 8:00am to 4:30pm 
Eligibility: All medical practitioners, emergency department doctors and nurses, and paramedics. Priority is given to those working in the local region.
Cost: $300.00
This program is accredited with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) for continuing professional development points and is approved for the Emergency Medicine, Rural Procedural Grants Program.
