RACGP Registrar Series - Dermatology

Enrol

Improve your skills in identifying and managing benign and malignant skin conditions. Skin conditions can be challenging and GPs are often the first point of contact when patients seek medical advice.

On average, 15% of all patient visits are for dermatological conditions. All clinical visits, regardless of the initial complaint, present the opportunity to identify potentially significant changes.

Australia, together with New Zealand, has the highest rates of melanoma in the world and over 14,000 Australians are expected to be diagnosed with skin cancer this year. Therefore, the ability to correctly diagnose and treat skin complaints is essential.

This workshop explores the appropriate identification and management of a range of benign and malignant skin conditions. Presented by Dr Paul Cherian, Specialist Dermatologist Oxford Dermatology, this comprehensive workshop covers a range of clinical presentations; optimising your ability to make an accurate diagnosis, identify appropriate treatment options and implement suitable management routines.

Learning outcomes include:

  1. Identify how to undertake a comprehensive skin check examination.
  2. Outline the key features used to recognise eczema and psoriasis, and identify causes and treatments.
  3. Describe best practice approach to identifying common cutaneous malignancies.
  4. List the management options for malignant skin presentations.

Light refreshments will be provided. For more information and to register, please click here.
